FAQ. widthshot

Does reflexology tickle?

No! If you have ticklish feet and have always fancied trying reflexology, you really don't have to worry. Every person I know who has ticklish feet quickly discovers that reflexology has a much more therapeutic feel (think massage) and relaxes into their treatment very quickly.

The pressure I apply to your feet is firm and systematic, so your tootsies are definitely not tickled!

Do I have to wash my feet before coming?

No, please don't worry about that. I use hot cotton cloths to refresh your feet prior to working on them.

I'd like a treatment but I'm embarrassed about my feet...

The most common thing people say to me at the start of their treatment is 'I'm sorry'... and then proceed to tell me about their 'ugly' feet, chipped nail varnish, long nails, dry skin... and the list goes on!
Please don't feel embarrassed by your feet. I have seen feet of all shapes and sizes and conditions. I love feet - they're amazing, they just need some time and attention for all the hard work they do!

Do I have to have an ailment or health condition to benefit from reflexology?

Absolutely not!

Although you may feel that reflexology helps support you with a particular health condition, the old saying 'prevention is better than cure' applies perfectly to the benefits of reflexology. A preventable approach to wellness can save time, money and frustration.

FAQ. maternity

Is reflexology safe to use in pregnancy?

Reflexology in pregnancy is considered safe and I offer a full consultation before commencing any treatment to ensure that it can go ahead.

If your pregnancy is classed as high risk or you have e.g. high blood pressure, a low-lying placenta, or other issues I may not be able to treat you but please get in touch and I can answer any questions you may have.

How many treatments will I need before I feel the benefits?

The number of treatments you might require depends on your objectives for your reflexology. If you're focussed on a health concern I would recommend that initially you book a four to six treatments once a week to see if reflexology is having a positive benefit for you.

If you're having treatments to promote rest and relaxation, or to maintain your well-being I generally suggest that monthly treatments are optimum.

Ultimately its up to you. Some of my clients come weekly, some have fornightly treatments, some come monthly and others have treatments a couple of times a year.

What type of treatments do you offer?

There are 10 different treatment options currently available.  The best option for you will depend on personal preference and the reason for seeking my services out in the first place.  Whether you want to relax for 30 minutes or TWO wonderful hours, there's something for everyone!  Why not have a look in the 'Services and Pricing' section for the full list of whats on offer?

You can choose between Foot Reflexology, Facial Reflexology, Indian Head Massage or a combination of the two/three treatments which are just sooooooo relaxing!!!

What do I need to do after treatment?

To get the most out of your treatment I advise that you do as little as possible afterwards! Go for a short walk or sit down with a cuppa and a good book if you can. Drinking plenty of water will help to flush out any toxins and its also advisable to avoid caffeine, cigarettes and alcohol for the rest of the day.

How will I feel afterwards? Are there any side effects?

After one or two treatments, most people feel an improved sense of well-being and experience a feeling of deep relaxation. Occasionally people report to having felt tired or needing to go to the toilet more often following their treatment. These are normal reactions and should pass within 24-48 hours. This is all part of the healing process.

Are there any circumstances when reflexology isn't appropriate?

There are very few circumstances where it isn't possible to provide reflexology. However, I wont be able to treat you if you have any of the following conditions:

  • A significant foot injury, stitches, severe bruising (minor injuries, and infections such as athletes foot are usually fine).
  • Multiple veruccas (one or two are OK, please cover with a plaster before your treatment).
  • A contagious illness or flu.
  • A DVT (deep vein thrombosis)
  • You are classed as having a high risk pregnancy
  • An illness which isn't stabilised with medication
  • A serious illness or a recent operation for which you are still under the care of a consultant/surgeon

If youre having an Indian Head Massage there are certain conditions that may prevent treatment from going ahead or need an adaption of the sequence.  I always complete a Health Consultation on our first time of meeting, so i'll let you know if there are any concerns.

FAQ. flyingwild

What products do you use?

I use lovely natural foot balms from a small business in Tipperary, Ireland, called Flying Wild. Seeking a simple life and one outdoors, Arno's passion for beekeeping has grown into a small rural business producing handcrafted organic holistic therapy products - including foot balm!

The unique blend of grapeseed, avocado, hempseed oils, beeswax, shea butter, cocoa butter and calendula oil, make Flying Wild products a fantastic skincare product in their own right.

All their products are handmade using sustainable and natural ingredients and with every order they plant a tree via OneTreePlanted.

The Facial Oil I use is made by the same fabulous company ... Its a rich blend of Organic rose, frankincense and pomegranate oils which can reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and blemishes.  It smells heavenly!
